Classics vs. New Era
So one thing that has been on my mind lately is something that i haven't really heard very many people talk about. Classics vs. New Era in EVERYTHING. Literally, everything. My parents and older people seem to think that the classics are the end all be all of everything. Music, cars, the economy(okay maybe i agree with that one), FOOD even. While i respect your opinions, i have to DISAGREE. For example the new model Camaro's have got to be some of the sexiest vehicles i have ever laid eyes one, AND i even got to sit in one! (yeah yeah good for you but hey, its a nice car i'll probably never be able to get so let me dream.) When i was talking to my grandpa about them, he shriveled up his nose and told me that "nothing can beat the classics" oh really? Nothing? Oh no these cars are only safer, faster, etc. Ohhh you mean aesthetically. Hmm, let us take a look. The 1957 Chevelle was considered the hot rod sexy car of the era, but i just do not see it. In addition to the cars, I also get blasted for liking newer music. One time i was told that "your music is like someone taking a crap in my ears." YEAH, i like newer music, and i don't like rocking out to bands that would probably break their hip if they tried to pick up their instrument. The Beatles? Yeah no, honestly, i don't like them. Here's my opinion on all of this. Adults(well the older generations since technically i'm an adult) grew up with these "classics", so they insist that they are the best. Well, my argument is that hey, you grew up with your cars, your music, your everything, and you love them, great! Now how is that any different than me loving the cars, music, and everything else i'm growing up with? In 30 years, the ZL1's(model of camaro i mentioned above), Eminem, and everything else will be considered classics, and i'm sure ill say the same thing to the generations before me. What i'm saying is that just because i don't like the classics, doesn't mean im part of the god awful "yoloswag420" generation. I love the times im growing up with, just as the older people loved theirs. Yeah you "old has beens"(just kidding!... kinda) can be in love with your outdated music, cars, all that. I'll be busy enjoying my amazing quad core phones, 580 horsepower sleek cars, and my new "crap" music any day!
